Mission Statement
The mission of the School of Media Arts is to educate students in the diverse skills needed to find their voice as digital media artists and filmmakers, allowing them to take their eventual place as leaders in our rapidly changing world. The skills involved take the artist from conception to completion of projects, both individual and collaborative in nature. Creative and critical thinking, articulation of ideas, study of history and theory, research into the emerging capabilities of digital technology and new forms of expression are stressed. The development of artistic technique in the digital medium is viewed as essential to success, but always with the understanding that artistic concepts and story are the center of aesthetic choices. Finally, Media Arts stresses the importance of ethical practices in relation to the creation of work and commitment to our responsibility to the broader culture.
