I'm Austin Smith. I was born in Texas and grew up there, spending my childhood chasing armadillos with my B.B. gun, running through the woods and fishing in little lost creeks. I started playing piano at age 8, and I now play 10 different stringed instruments. At age 18, I moved to Los Angeles and worked in 3 recording studios and I studied with, played with, and recorded some of L.A.'s best studio musicians. At age 20, I moved to Seattle to try to start my own bands, projects and recording studios, but somewhere along the way I developed new interests. I went back to school to study cell biology and started gardening and learned how to aquaculture marine ecosystems. (most people call this an aquarium, I call it an ecosystem) I maintained a large and diverse garden and a 75-gallon coral reef tidepool, and continued to play music frequently. I eventually transferred out to the University of Montana, where I continue to study biology. I got married to the loveliest gal in the whole kingdom and in the summer of 2012, we had ourselves a little prince. I will be graduating in 2013 with a bachelor's in human biology and hope to work in a clinical setting. As a tortoise, I spend most of my free time eating carrots and trying to flip myself back over onto my tummy.
