Sacks Appeal: Designs on the Shopping Bag This dazzling exhibition showcases some of the finest shopping bag art of the 20th century, featuring artists Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney, Keith Haring, Joseph Beuys, Barbara Kruger, Annie Leibovitz and others. Everyday Objects in Art: Highlighting selections from MMAC's Permanent Collection, this exhibition features works that utilize found objects as material and subject. Included are works by Kendra Bayer, Nathaniel Freeman, Dyna Kuehnle, Andy Warhol and more. |

Jean Arp, Colonne de Rêve, limestone and bronze, 1958 |
Colonne de Rêve (Dream Column), by Jean Arp (1886-1966), is on view in the UM Mansfield Library lobby through April 9, 2008. Jean Arp was a German born artist known for his leading role in the Dada and Surrealist movements. On loan from a private collection, Colonne de Rêve is an eloquent example of Arp's approach to sculpture. Mansfield Library hours vary throughout the school year. Untitled I by Abstract Expressionist master De Kooning immigrated to New York City from the Netherlands in 1926 and became involved with the city's avant-garde artists. He was well known for his role in founding the Abstract Expressionist movement. Untitled I displays his lush brushwork, vibrant color and a fragmented composition suggestive of representational form. The President's Office Lobby, located in Main Hall is open to the public Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, except on holidays. |

January 15 - February 26, 2008 Impacted Nations Presenting 52 works by contemporary Native American artists addressing the conflict between Native people's relationship to the earth and the political and economic forces that undermine it. This traveling exhibition was organized by Honor the Earth, a national Native American organization founded by Winona LaDuke. |
