The Rudy Autio Contemporary Ceramic Collection comprises work by artists
who use fired clay as a major medium. The collection, numbering more than 150
pieces, contains work executed since 1950. Many of the pieces were completed
at The University of Montana Missoula campus as part of the ceramics program
that Autio administered and directed. The pieces in this collection are from
visiting artists, students, and other noted ceramic artists in Montana. Many
of the artists whose work is featured in this collection have been residents
at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana
