Reception for Lowell Elementary Students

November 28, Lowell Elementary students visited their exhibition, Children's Art from the Community. MMAC held a small reception for the students, who dined on celery boats, milk and brownies as they viewed their own and their peers' work.

Meloy and Paxson Galleries

Over 55 works by internationally and regionally known artists are on view, including works by Fra Dana, Honoré Daumier, Käthe Kollwitz, Henry Meloy, and Beth Lo. These works reveal much about society's ideas and attitudes toward children, ranging from idealized portrayals of street urchins to political commentary to sensitively crafted portraits.

Children’s Art from the Community showcases artwork created by Lowell elementary school children grades 1, 3 and 5 portraying adults at work, leisure, play. These works, created in workshops lead by UM Professor Bobby Tilton's Art Education students offer inventive, insightful, and often poetic views on the grown-up world.
