April 26 - June 30, 2007 This exhibition celebrates the work of University of Montana Professor of Art, Marilyn Bruya. Professor Bruya teaches painting and drawing and is retiring after 25 years at UM. Only a few days remain to see the exhibition, George Longfish: A Retrospective on view in the Meloy and Paxson Galleries. This exhibit, featuring 35 years of work by the contemporary Native American artist will travel next to the University of South Dakota to be on view George Longfish was in Missoula April 2 - 6, 2007 for a series of lectures and workshops at The University of Montana and on the Flathead Reservation. |

Exhibition Catalog for This 56-page full-color exhibition catalog, produced by MMAC and published by The University of Montana Press contains images of all of the exhibition artworks. Catalog author Kate Morris, Ph.D. of Santa Clara University, discusses Longfish's work of the past 35 years, and MMAC Curator Manuela Well-Off-Man contributes a foreword discussing Longfish's role as Director of the UM Graduate Program in American Indian Art in 1972. The catalog is available for purchase online and at MMAC's galleries. It is funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Montana Arts Council. |

MMAC is excited to announce its second major art loan from an anonymous private collector. Torso of a Walking Woman, or Torso Turning, by German Expressionist sculptor Wilhelm Lehmbruck (1881-1919), is on display from April 10, 2007 through July 23, 2007 in the Mansfield Library lobby. Considered to be one of the artist's most important works, it embodies the artist's mature style. Call 406.243.4561 for Mansfield Library open hours.
