January 16 - February 26, 2008 Impacted Nations Impacted Nations offers 52 works by contemporary Native American artists addressing the conflict between Native people's relationship to the earth and the political and economic forces that undermine it. The Montana Museum of Art & Culture has received several generous loans of major modernist works from private collections, viewable at two campus locations. In the UM Mansfield Library lobby through April 9, 2008 is Colonne de Rêve (Dream Column), by surrealist Jean Arp (1886-1966). Mansfield Library hours vary throughout the school year. ART APPRECIATION SHORT COURSE - February 5, 12, and 19, 2008 Interested in brushing up on your art knowledge? Want to speak in more eloquent, concise and confident terms about art? MMAC is collaborating with the Missoula Art Museum and the Art Associates of Missoula to offer "Very Visual: Art Appreciation and Visual Literacy," taught by local art historian, Ted Hughes, in the UM University Center Room 326. Classes will meet from 4-6pm on February 5, 12, and 19. Cost is $26 for those who register by 5pm Thursday, January 31, and $35 after. To register, call MMAC at Registration Form available here. |
