March 11 - April 29, 2008 A national touring exhibition of 35 rare etchings created by the master between 1629 and 1654, from the collection of John Villarino. This exhibition was organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions. Generously sponsored by Grizzly Riders International. Miracles and Myths: Mapping the World from 1572 to 1921 Discover how maps made the world "go round." The Montana Museum of Art & Culture has received several generous loans of major modernist works from private collections, viewable at two campus locations. In the UM Mansfield Library lobby through April 9, 2008 is Colonne de Rêve (Dream Column), by surrealist Jean Arp (1886-1966). Mansfield Library hours vary throughout the school year. Please contact the library for open hours at 243-6866 or at www.lib.umt.edu. MUSEUM ASSESSMENT PROGRAM TEAM TO VISIT MMAC |

A team of two talented museum experts will visit MMAC on April 3 - 4, 2008. Susan Bandes, Director of the Kresge Art Museum at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, and Michael Panhorst, Curator at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in Alabama, will examine the museum's operations and collections and make recommendations on best practices and strategic planning. This assessment is conducted through the American Association of Museums, and will help MMAC in its efforts toward effective community service and programming and in planning for a new building. |

UM PROFESSOR OF ART BETH LO TO BE HONORED |

UM Professor of Art Beth Lo will be honored at the April 5, 2008 Odyssey of the Stars, a benefit for UM School of Fine Arts scholarships. The Montana Museum of Art & Culture will proudly display Lo's ceramic works in the Meloy Gallery window in the PARTV Center, April 1 - 5, 2008. An alumna of the UM Department of Art, Beth Lo has achieved international acclaim for her work. She has participated in national and international exhibitions in Seattle, Santa Fe, Boston, Spokane, New Orleans, New York City, Taipei, and Beijing. She has received numerous awards for her work, including a National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship Grant in 1994.
