MEET MMAC'S NEW DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Sara Portzel

Sara Portzel, MMAC Director of Development

Sara Portzel joined the UM Foundation and MMAC April 28, 2008 and will oversee MMAC's fundraising efforts for a new museum building. Sara brings a broad range of development, marketing, and communications experience to her role at MMAC. She holds a Masters Degree in Non-profit Administration and was previously the Director of Development and Marketing for the Merola Opera Program in San Fransisco, CA.

States Sara, “I was raised with an appreciation of the arts in all its forms and consider myself lucky to have found a position that combines my skills and my passion so completely. I am thrilled to join the team at MMAC as we look to the future and the opportunity to build a museum that will showcase the incredible art in the permanent collection.”

Welcome aboard, Sara!


ONE MORE WEEK TO VIEW MODERNIST ART LOANS


 

 

Two major modernist works on loan from a private collection are on view though May 16, 2008
in the UM President's Office Lobby:

The President's Office Lobby, located in Main Hall is open to the public Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, except on holidays.

MMAC Advisory Board, April 30, 2008

On Thursday, April 30, 2008, members of the MMAC Advisory board met to discuss the museum progress and strategic planning. MMAC Board members include Sheila Callahan, Missoula, MT; Lisette Carter, Great Falls, MT; Dr. Robert Chaney, Missoula, MT; Leslie Cox, Port Townsend, WA; Suzanne Crocker, Palo Alto, CA; Shirley Miller, Kalispell, MT; Earl Morgenroth, Missoula, MT; Nancy Fields O'Connor, Los Angeles, CA; Ginger Renner, Paradise Valley, AZ; Kitte Robins, Missoula, MT; Nikki Sliter, Kalispell, MT; Ray Steele, Polson, MT, and Kathy Caras Veazey, Missoula, MT. Additional members are to be added in the coming months.

 


OTHER MMAC NEWS

MMAC Director Barbara Koostra and MMAC Curator Manuela Well-Off-Man attended the American Association of Museums Conference in Denver, CO in late April along with 5,500 other museum professionals. The AAM Conference presents a variety of opportunities for professional development and networking. Barbara also attended the Association of College and University Museums Conference in Boulder, CO on April 26, 2008.
