The installation "Wave/Traffic Translator" simulates the sound of wave activity and freeway traffic of the site at which Interstate 90 intersects with the shore of Lake Washington in Seattle. The instrument consists of eight large organ like pipes arranged in a row. Each pipe is fitted with a moveable slide, which when the vertical positio is changed, alters the tone of the pipes. Patrick Zentz is interested in the interaction between art and the environment.
