Welcome to MSA

Salaam (Peace) to all of you. And, welcome to the Muslim Student Association website.

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) at The University of Montana (UM) is a student run organization formed in order to represent the Islamic faith and the Muslim student community at the UM. There are about 90 members at the UM.

The purpose of MSA at UM is to bring Muslims together in the worship of The One True God and in following the beautiful example left by God’s final messenger, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), in our lives. In the process we are also reaching out to the greater UM and Missoula community to promote enhanced awareness of Islam, inter-faith tolerance, and comprehensive understanding.

WHO IS MOHAMMAD?

"And God calls to the Abode of Peace and He guides whom He wills to a straight path." (Translation from The Holy Qur'an, 10:25)

"God commands justice and doing good and giving to relatives. And He forbids indecency and doing wrong and tyranny. He warns you so that hopefully you will pay heed." (Translation from The Holy Qur'an, 16:90)

The word "Allah" is the proper name in Arabic for The One and Only God, The Creator and Sustainer of the universe. It is also used by Arab Jews and Christians for the God. In fact, the word "Allah" is a cognate of the word "Eloh-im" in Hebrew and "Allaha" in Aramaic, the mother tongue of Jesus (Peace Be Upon Him). The word "Allah" does not have a plural or gender. Allah does not have any associate or partner, and He does not beget nor was He begotten.
