Piano Camp Overview

Thank you for your interest in our summer music camp. This page will provide a quick overview containing answers to frequently asked questions regarding our camp.

Camp Dates:
Entire camp: Sunday, June 22- Saturday, June 28
Registration Deadline: June 6 (Applications will be accepted as long as space is available)
Final Concert: Friday, June 27, 5:00pm and Saturday, June 28, 10am, Music Recital Hall, located in the Music Building, Parents and Family are invited.
Fees: (includes room, board, T- shirt, recreational activities, & group photo)
Resident Camper Fee (full week, including room & board and T-shirt): $550
Commuter Camper Fee (full week, excluding room, board and T-shirt): $350
Private lesson [optional], 1/2 hour: $25
Eligibility:  Recommended for students who are entering 8th grade through recent high school graduate.
Cancellation Policy: 
Cancellations received prior to 5pm, Friday, June 6 will receive a full refund of all monies paid.  Please allow 4-5 weeks for processing.  Cancellations received prior to 5pm, Friday June 20 will receive a refund less your paid deposit. Living Conditions:
  • Campers will live as college students for the week in one of the many campus dormitories.
  • Meals are  provided by the “Food Zoo”.
  • Campus health facilities, under the supervision of a university physician, are available to campers at all times if needed.
  • All camp activities are properly supervised and conducted by counselors.

Musical Opportunities:
In addition to full ensemble and sectional rehearsals, campers will have the opportunity to play in small ensembles and attend clinic sessions. Students will have a chance to hear musical programs by faculty artists, participate in music workshops, and take classes in conducting, arranging, and general music. A staff of outstanding musicians has been chosen to lead the campers in these musical experiences.
Private Lessons:
A very limited number of 1/2 hour private lessons on a previously memorized piece or a newly assigned piece my be requested for $25 per lesson at camp registration.  Lesson Request forms will be available at the registration table.
Recreational Activities:
Campers have a wide choice of recreational activities available.
Camp Facilities:
Music instruction will be given at the UM School of Music, with rehearsal rooms, ensemble rooms, and individual practice rooms.
