The vocal division presents the student singer with both studio and classroom instruction and numerous performance opportunities. Private instruction by active performing artist-teachers is available to majors and minors and to non-majors on a space-available basis. Classes are offered in vocal pedagogy, diction and repertoire, voice for actors, voice in class, among others. In addition to solo recitals, the School of Music’s extensive choral ensemble and opera programs provide in-depth training and experience. Students may also participate in musical theater productions in collaboration with the School of Drama/Dance and MCT Community Theater. Graduates from our music education program are placed quickly and competitively in K-12 programs across the state. Graduates in vocal performance successfully pursue professional careers, most recently with such companies as Opera San Jose, Intermountain Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Portland Opera, Montana Lyric Opera, and on Broadway. |
