Composers’ Showcase

The Composers’ Showcase is an annual festival of concerts showcasing original compositions by students at The University of Montana. Works for choir, wind ensemble, orchestra, chamber ensembles, and vocal and instrumental soloists are premiered in a series of concerts, and are critiqued by a visiting guest composer. Recent guest participants have included Samuel Adler, William Albright, Jonathan Berger, James Eversole, Anthony Innaccone, Richard Karpen, William Kraft, John Marvin, David Maslanka, Harold Owen, and Maurice Wright. Concerts are free and open to the public.

Mountain Computer Music Festival

The annual Mountain Computer Music Festival features a concert of the best student computer music compositions alongside pieces by visiting guest composers and performers. The concert is held at the Phyllis Washington Park Amphitheatre at the base of Mount Sentinel, or in the Music Recital Hall, and showcases a mixture of live interactive and fixed media works. Also included on the festival are guest lectures, a listening room for fixed media pieces, and a panel discussion or radio interview with guest composers and performers.
