Choir Camp Overview

 
Thank you for your interest in our summer music camp. This page will provide a quick overview containing answers to frequently asked questions regarding our camp.

Camp Dates:
  • Entire camp: Sunday, June 22- Saturday, June 28, 2014
  • Final Payment Due: June 6 (Applications will be accepted after this date, as long as space is available)
  • Final Concert: Saturday, June 28, 11:00am, Dennison Theatre, Free and open to the public.
Fees: (includes room, board, T- shirt, recreational activities, & group photo)
  • Resident Camper Fee (full week, including room & board and T-shirt): $450
  • Commuter/In-Town Camper Fee (full week, excluding room, board and T-shirt): $225
  • Private lesson [optional], 1/2 hour: $15
Eligibility: 
  • Choir Camp is recommended for students who are entering 9th grade through 2014 high school graduate.
Living Accommodations:
  • Campers will live as college students for the week in one of the many campus dormitories.
  • Meals are  provided by the “Food Zoo”.
  • Campus health facilities, under the supervision of a university physician, are available to campers at all times if needed.
  • All camp activities are properly supervised and conducted by counselors.

Musical Opportunities:
In addition to full ensemble and sectional rehearsals, campers will have the opportunity to play in small ensembles and attend clinic sessions. Students will have a chance to hear musical programs by faculty artists, participate in music workshops, and take classes in conducting, arranging, and general music. A staff of outstanding musicians has been chosen to lead the campers in these musical experiences.
 
Private Lessons:
For students desiring to take a private lesson on their instrument, one-half hour of private study is an option available to all campers.
 
Recreational Activities:
Campers have a wide choice of recreational activities available.
 
Camp Facilities:
Music instruction will be given at the UM School of Music, with rehearsal rooms, ensemble rooms, and individual practice rooms.
 
Cancellation Policy: 
Cancellations received prior to 5pm, Friday, June 6 will receive a full refund of all monies paid.  Please allow 4-5 weeks for processing.  Cancellations received after June 6 and prior to 5pm, Friday June 20 will receive a refund less your paid deposit.
