
The Missoula Piano Trio placed 3rd at National MTNA Young Artist String Chamber Music Competition in San Antonio, Texas on April 2, 2016. According to their coach, Professor Steven Hesla, “They played magnificently. Their performance was musically intelligent, compelling, virtually flawless, and deeply moving!” A piano trio from Brigham Young University was selected as 1
st place winner, and a string quartet from Vanderbilt University was awarded 2
nd place. The other competitors, a piano trio from the University of Michigan, and string quartets from West Virginia University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, also performed beautifully but were not ranked. “The whole competition was at a very high level,” Hesla noted. “I was so proud of our Montana students and their marvelous accomplishment!” You can hear their winning performances included in Adam Sears’ graduate chamber music recital on Wednesday, May 11
