1. Students must hold a bachelor's degree in music, drama or dance, or have had commensurate experience to qualify for admittance into this degree program.
2. Students entering the MM program in Musical Theatre who do not have a bachelor's degree in music must take a proficiency examination in music theory.  Students requiring further work in music theory will be asked to complete specific courses during their first year of study.
3. Students entering the MM program in Musical Theatre must perform placement auditions for voice, acting and dance at the time of matriculation.
4. Students will be placed into various courses in Acting and Dance and Movement, but will register for them under THTR 517 and THTR 525.
5. Electives are chosen in consultation with a major advisor.
6. Independent Study may be substituted for required courses with the approval of the major advisor and the faculty member directing the study.
7. At least 50% of the program must be at the 500-600 level.
8. Students are encouraged to use summers for either coursework or internships.
9. A Comprehensive Oral Exam is required at the conclusion of the coursework, internship and professional project.
