World Percussion plays a strong role at The University of Montana and is represented with performing groups like the Islanders Steel Band, the West African Ensemble, Brazilian Ensemble, Salsa Band, Afro Cuban Ensemble and the UM Jaya Budaya Balinese Gamelan.  The gamelan is planning a trip to Bali, Indonesia in May of 2012. The Islanders Steel Band has performed throughout the Northwest and  has released two CD recordings – Summer Songs and Pandemonium.
