Women's Chorus

About Us

The University of Montana Women’s Chorus was founded in 1994 and consists of approximately 25-35 women who have achieved membership from a vocal audition. Its members come from all across campus, not just the music degree program. The ensemble is directed by Dr. David Cody.

What We Do

The Women’s Chorus performs a varied repertoire of sacred and secular choral classics and also more contemporary works from many styles, languages, and cultures. The ensemble meets twice weekly (Mondays & Wednesdays 1:10-2:00pm) and performs at least one public concert each semester. The Women’s Chorus has toured on occasion – they were the featured ensemble for the Idaho State University Women’s Choir Festival in 2003 and 2004.

Is Women’s Chorus for me?

If you have a nice singing voice and can sing on pitch, and are seeking an enjoyable and creative experience in music, then please join us.

How to audition

Auditions will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 and Tuesday, August 26, 2008. Sign up for an audition time on the list posted on the door of Room 201 of the Music Building or by contacting Dr. Cody. The only requirement to participate is the ability to consistently sing on pitch. The brief audition will include the singing of vocal exercises, with piano, to determine range and pitch accuracy.
