2019 Summer Conducting Workshop - July 7-11

Discover, Create, Energize, Connect, Express

Designed to enhance conducting, rehearsing and musicianship, the UM Conducting Workshop is a teaching workshop for instrumental conductors and music educators of all levels.  Daily activities include conducting a live ensemble of workshop participants, auditors, and members of the UM Symphonic Winds.  Discussions include aesthetic movement, score study, rehearsal techniques, and repertoire selection.

For beginning through advanced conductors of any ensemble type.  Registration for Conducting Participants will be limited to 25.  There is no limit for Workshop Auditors.  Applications will be accepted until filled.

Levels of Participation

Conducting Participant  - $450

  • Conduct Lab Ensemble daily
  • Play in Lab Ensemble daily
  • Attend discussions and lectures
  • ADD graduate level credit - INFORMATION COMING SOON

Workshop Auditor - $300

  • Play in Lab Ensemble daily 
  • Attend discussion and lectures. 

Current Undergraduate Students

 

Renewal Units/Clock Hours

  • Approved by Montana Office of Public Instruction for 33 renewal units if  not taking it for credit.
  • Approved by Washington ISAPI for 33 clock hours if not taking it for credit.
  • 33 hours of professional development for other states added on request

  • TO BE ANNOUNCED - The Repertoire will consist of various grade levels of high quality literature for full wind band.
  • Conducting participants must have original scores.
