The Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival is a non-competitive, educational event.  High School and College jazz bands perform every 30 minutes throughout both days and receive recorded comments from the guest clinicians.  Immediately following its performance, each band will have an opportunity to work for 30 minutes with one of the clinicians in another location.  It is possible to receive a numerical rating upon request.

NEW!!  The student ensemble recognized by the clinicians as most outstanding from each day will be given the opportunity to open the evening concert.

Outstanding Soloist Awards will be given to deserving soloists from the daytime performances.  These will be presented during the Friday and Saturday night concerts.  This adds an element of excitement to the festivities and recognizes superior individual achievement without creating a competitive atmosphere.
