Financial Assistance

Teaching Assistantships
The School of Music offers a limited number of competitive graduate teaching assistantships (GTAs), available during the normal academic year. Graduate students in these positions assist faculty with course instruction and grading of assignments and exams as well as important programmatic needs. Service in these positions can be used to enhance professional resumes and often result in strong job references. Graduate teaching assistants are selected by the School of Music according to their suitability of background and the School's needs. Appointments are made annually and GTAs work approximately 20 hours per week. Usually, only applicants admitted under full status to the Graduate School are eligible for teaching assistantships. In addition to their salaries, teaching assistants receive a tuition waiver.  Additional fees charged by the University are not included in the TA waiver package. Teaching assistants are required to register for a minimum of 6 credits each semester, and the waiver covers a maximum of 9 credits each semester.

Teaching Fellowships and Talent Scholarships may also be available to qualified applicants.
