Jeff Brandt is building a reputation in the greater Northwest for the entertaining and motivational style he employs in teaching percussion and presenting clinics on learning to read rhythms. His book Tasty Rhythms has received praise from musicians nationwide. Educators teaching in a variety of settings use his innovative method book.

Jeff has performed with a variety of groups including Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Symphony, Seattle Fifth Avenue Theatre Orchestra, Tacoma Opera, Missoula Symphony, Total Experience Gospel Choir, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, PLU Faculty Jazz Combo, Big Pink, the Hayrollers, the Jodi Marshall Trio, and the John Floridis Trio. He has shared the stage with world-renowned artists such as the Call, the Brecker Brothers, Eddie Daniels, Bill Watrous, and Adolf "Bud" Herseth

In addition, Mr. Brandt owns The Bearcussion™ Studio where he teaches drumset, snare drum, timpani, and keyboard percussion to students of all ages from across the state of Montana. He lives in Missoula with his wife, their three children, and two completely insane cats, Batsy P. and Señor Pads.


Mr. Brandt received his Bachelor's degree in Percussion Performance from Pacific Lutheran University. He subsequently was appointed to the music faculty of both Pierce Community College and Pacific Lutheran University. In 2004, he completed his Master’s in Percussion Performance at the University of Montana School of Music, where he now serves as a full-time, Assistant-Adjunct Professor, and exclusively teaches the ever-popular History of Rock & Roll course.
