Dr. David Edmonds is currently Assistant Professor and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Montana where he directs the Chamber Chorale, University Choir and Women’s Chorus and teaches Choral Conducting and Secondary Choral Methods.  He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas, a Masters of Music from Westminster Choir College and a Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Nebraska (Omaha).  Primary conducting studies have included work with Jerry McCoy, Richard Sparks, Joe Miller, James Jordan and Z. Randall Stroope

Dr. Edmonds recently served as conductor of the University of North Texas Men’s Chorus.  Prior to his work at UNT, he served as Graduate Assistant Conductor of the Westminster Choir of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.  In this capacity he prepared the chorus for their 2010 Spoleto Festival USA performance of Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C major and Brahms’ Schicksalslied under the direction of Joseph Flummerfelt.  As a singer in the Westminster Choir, Dr. Edmonds performed with such conductors as Kurt Masur, Ton Koopman, Helmuth Rilling, John Adams and Joseph Flummerfelt and sang with the New York Philharmonic, the Bavarian Staatskapelle Orchestra and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s (New York).

In 2002, while still an Undergraduate, David Edmonds founded and conducted the High School division chorus of the Nebraska Choral Arts Society, leading this group on two national tours.  The same year, he was awarded the Nebraska Choral Directors Association Undergraduate Conducting Award.  Following the completion of his B.M.E., Dr. Edmonds was a successful secondary Choral Music Director for six years in Texas and Iowa.

As a composer and arranger, Dr. Edmonds’ choral works have been commissioned and recorded by schools and churches in the United States and Canada.  His publishers include Alliance Music Publications, Colla Voce, and MorningStar Music Publishers.

Dr. Edmonds lives in Missoula, Montana with his wife Aubrey.  They are delighted to be the new parents of daughter Madeleine Claire.
