If you are a first-time student or a transfer student planning to join us for New Student Orientation then it’s time for you to let us know you are coming!
While orientation is going to look a little different this year, we are still excited to welcome you to campus in-person and help you get to know your new home and prepare you for a successful start of your college journey. Here is some important information to know as you prepare to arrive on campus this fall:
- Students will be hearing from UM Housing very soon to select an arrival date and time between Aug. 12-16. Keep an eye on your email! Questions can be directed to UM Housing at 406-243-2611.
- Families are encouraged to participate in some special programming, such as campus tours, trips downtown, and our Family Farewell on the same day your student is scheduled to move into the residence halls Aug. 12-16. Families with students who are not living on campus can join in these activities any day during the arrival period.
- First-year students are expected to participate in New Student Orientation Aug. 17-18.
Students will be placed in small groups with a peer leader, and safety measures will be in place to allow for physical distancing and minimal intergroup mixing. Additional information on arrival procedures and safety precautions will be provided as the semester nears.
If you haven’t already done so, all first-year students should complete Online Bear Tracks and register for New Student Orientation, while transfer students should complete the Online New Student Orientation. Remember, transfer students are not required to attend orientation on campus, but are more than welcome to join us if they wish.
There are a lot of tasks to complete before fall semester arrives, we know, but taking care of these matters in the proper order will help make your transition to UM smooth and seamless.
See you soon, Griz!
