What does the UAAC do?

The UAAC fosters a culture of assessment that supports UM’s continuous improvement toward its institutional objectives. To accomplish this, the UAAC:

  • Supports the Accreditation Liaison Officer in meeting accreditation obligations and provides input into how the University can best meet those expectations:
    • Monitors the assessment of student learning outcomes (e.g., Faculty Senate committees’ general education curriculum assessment efforts, the Assessment Advisory Committee’s program assessment efforts); and
    • Monitors the assessment of non-academic sector contributions to institutional objectives.
  • Provides feedback to the Office of Strategic Planning and Implementation and the Accreditation Liaison Officer on efforts to continuously improve and integrate assessment into planning and implementation activities across all UM sectors:
    • Monitors processes that support progress on institution-level and sector-level projects outlined in UM’s Annual Playbook; and
    • Monitors progress on projects that have received OSPI-managed institutional funding awards (e.g., Flagship Fund).
  •  Acts as a body of ambassadors in keeping campus apprised of accreditation and assessment activities.

In AY23-24 and in support of the above, the UAAC will:

  •  Support the completion of UM’s Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (Year 7) Report;
  • Support efforts to prepare campus for the Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness (Year 7) site visit, including efforts to communicate about the visit to prepare campus partners; and
  • Support efforts to prepare for UM’s next accreditation cycle.
