Presenter Biographies

  • Spencer Wolny - University of Montana
  • Spencer Wolny graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science with an emphasis in software development. Since that time, he has worked as a software developer specializing in web application development and technologies. He is currently working at the University of Montana in the Information Technology Office’s Web Technologies Group as a Systems Analyst/Programmer. Spencer works on a variety of projects including contract and grant projects, but most notably he is a key developer for the University’s enterprise portal.
  • Tyler Murray - University of Montana
  • Tyler Murray has worked for the University of Montana's Information Technology Office for 3 years. He began as a student developer and, after graduating in the spring of 2006 with a Bachelors of Applied Science in Pre-Applied Science, he was hired on as a full time employee.
  • Nick Shontz - University of Montana
  • Nick Shontz came back to the Information Technology Office at the University of Montana in January. He has worked on a number of portlets, including the comics portlet. He has worked extensively with PHP, and enjoys working with Linux, and other open source applications.
  • Tom Fite - University of Montana
  • Tom Fite has been working at the Information Technology Office at the University of Montana for almost three years. During this time, he has been involved heavily with the design and implementation of the university's portal. Tom is very knowledgeable about user interface aspects of the portal and ways to make it easy to use for students. He has also been heavily involved in portlet programming and assisted in the development of the majority of UM's portlets. Tom has presented at several CampusEAI conferences on portlet development and portal customization.
  • Eugene Rachitskiy - CampusEAI
  • Eugene serves as one of the most senior Software Developers for the CampusEAI Consortium. He has regularly led Portlet Development courses at the Consortium's annual Learning Conference, as well as at portal conferences in Australia and the United Kingdom. Eugene consistently has programming experience using development practices that are considered to be on the cutting edge of technology, such as Spring and AJAX.
  • Jason Shao - Rutgers University
  • An Application Developer on the Enterprise Middle-ware team, part of Rutgers Enterprise Systems and Services, Jason has been heavily involved in implementing the myRutgers portal, and emerging Identity Management initiatives. In addition to presenting at JA-SIG sponsored conferences on topics ranging from User Experience design to Assessing Identity Management, Jason serves as uPortal Development Coordinator and committer. uPortal is an open-source collaboration within higher education sponsored by JA-SIG, developing uPortal -- a widely deployed, standards compliant portal platform.
  • Jamey Maxwell - Tempest Technologies; CampusEAI Consultant
  • Jamey Maxwell, a CampusEAI consultant, previously in the position of Sr. Systems Analyst for The University of Montana, is currently in a new position at Tempest Technologies.

    Jamey was the technical lead in the development of UMT’s portal and the CampusEAI’s popular Community Development Center.

    Jamey has preformed many portlet development trainings throughout the United States and has presented at past CEAI Learning Conferences in Ohio and Australia.

    He is a graduate of The University of Montana with a B.S. in Computer Science and an emphasis in Software Systems.

    While retaining strong ties to the UMT and CampusEAI, Jamey continues to be an active member in the consortium and offers his services during the Portlets 2007 Conference.
