George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty and Staff Awards for Distinguished Accomplishment

Every spring, the Dennison Awards recognize distinguished faculty and staff who have brought excellence, merit and distinction to the University of Montana. The Faculty Award is open to all tenure-track or full-time research faculty who have completed at least five years of employment with UM and whose accomplishments have brought significant recognition to the University at the regional and national levels. The Staff Award is presented to a staff member who has completed at least five years of employment with UM and recognizes a distinguished accomplishment within the employee's work unit.

STAFF AWARD

2017 RECIPIENT:

Kathleen Whetzel, Assistant to the Dean, School of Journalism

CRITERIA:

  • Classified staff member who has
    • Completed five years of employment at the University of Montana prior to the date of nomination; and
    • Distinguished accomplishment within the employee’s work unit that lends lustre to the University of Montana (lustre: “excellence, merit, distinction or glory”).

NOMINATION PROCESS:

  • Application materials include:
    • Nomination Form;
    • Two in-depth letters of support describing how the candidate lends lustre to the University of Montana.

AWARD PRESENTATION:

  • The George M. Dennison Presidential Staff Award for Distinguished Accomplishment will be presented at the University of Montana Charter Day Awards Ceremony on February 16, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
  • A $1,500 stipend accompanies the Award.

FACULTY AWARD

2017 RECIPIENT:

Elaine M. Gagliardi, Professor, Alexander Blewett III School of Law

CRITERIA:

  • Tenure-track professor or full-time research professor who has
    • Completed five years of employment at the University of Montana prior to the date of nomination; and
    • Distinguished accomplishments that have brought significant recognition to the University of Montana at the regional and national levels.

NOMINATION PROCESS:

  • Application materials should include:
    • Nomination Form;
    • Nominating letter which notes the nominee’s name, position, department, and years of service at the University of Montana;
    • At least two, but no more than four, letters of recommendation; and
    • Curriculum vitae.

AWARD PRESENTATION:

  • The George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Accomplishment will be presented at the University of Montana Charter Day Awards Ceremony on February 16, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom.
  • A $1,500 stipend accompanies the Award.
