About The Office Of UM Legal Counsel

The UM Legal Counsel maintains a confidential, approachable and professional legal environment for representing all of The University of Montana campuses. The UM Legal Counsel advises the University President, as well as other UM administrators, faculty, staff and official University organizations; interprets federal and state laws, in addition to Montana University System policies; and oversees all legal activity involving the University. The UM Legal Counsel works very closely with the Montana University System Chief Legal Counsel in Helena. The UM Legal Counsel office extensively uses law students as academic interns and is an approved Law School clinic.
