You are cordially invited to attend a master class with Professor Monica Huggett. Born and raised in West London, she began taking violin lessons at the age of six. At sixteen, she entered the Royal Academy of Music and specialized in the baroque violin. From 1980 to 1987 she served as the concert master of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. In her thirty-year career, Professor Huggett has played for most of the famous orchestras and directors in Europe. Her discography covers the entirety of the baroque violin repertoire. In the UK her work centers on her ensemble, Sonnerie, which recently has released CDs of Mozart Piano Quartets and Biber Violin Sonatas on ASV. The Biber CD won the prestigious Baroque Instrumental Gramophone Award in 2002. She spends several months a year in Portland, Oregon, where she is the Artistic Director of the Portland Baroque Orchestra.
