You are cordially invited to attend a seminar with Marlene Zuk.  After earning her Ph.D. in zoology at the University of Michigan in 1986, she began teaching in the Biology Department at the University of California, Riverside.  She enjoys a well-established reputation as an outstanding teacher.  The winner of many grants, Professor Zuk has published more than 100 scientific papers and articles on various aspects of sexual selection in the animal kingdom.  With J.E. Loye, she edited Bird-Parasite Interactions:  Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (1991).  Her book, Sexual Selections:  What We Can and Can’t Learn about Sex from Animals (2002), has earned enthusiastic reviews.  The New York Times Book Review called it “fascinating and persuasive.”  The Wall Street Journal said of Professor Zuk that she “is a truly intelligent writer who is out to make a serious point.”

In addition, Professor Zuk will deliver a lecture that evening, “Sexual Selections:  What We Can and Cannot Learn about Sex from Animals,” at 8:00 P.M. in the University Theatre.
