Student Research
What the research project entails:
Project TRAIN has been restructered due to a renewed grant. The program now consists of a year-long endeavor in an independent research project. The areas of study include, but are not limited to; Environmental Biology including; Evolutionary Genetics and Conservation Biology, Plant and Soil Ecology, Animal Biology and Ecology, Aquatic Biology and Ecology, and Microbial Ecology.
Student Responsibilities:
Faculty and staff from both the University of Montana and Salish Kootenai College will assist the student intern in the setup of benchmarks the student will be required to meet in order to maintain a continuous flow of research throughout the school year, with the summer months being the more rigorous section of the research product. The student will be required to present a draft of their finished work by the beginning of the fall semester. The final product will be due by the end of the fall semester and be expected to be elgible for publication.
Writing requirements:
The students will have access to a writing tutor throughout the time of their research project through the sloan foundations writing tutor. It will be their responsibility to seek this assitance.
