Academic Convocation

Each fall The University of Montana begins the academic year with the Academic Convocation ceremony for first-year students and their parents. This year's Academic Convocation is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:15 a.m. in the University Theatre (Fine Arts Building).

Directly following the ceremony there will be a reception held outside of the theatre. The reception, hosted by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, is a chance for new students, their parents, faculty members, and administrators to interact prior to the beginning of classes.

After the ceremony and reception, you are invited to a special showing of Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs hosted by the Montana Museum of Art & Culture in collaboration with the Gallery of Visual Arts. The exhibit will be open until 3:00 p.m. in the Meloy and Paxson Galleries (PARTV Building) and the Gallery of Visual Arts (Social Sciences Building). Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs was developed by the Newseum, the interactive museum of news in association with Business of Entertainment, Inc., NYC, Cyma Rubin, Curator.
