Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Workshop
The University of Montana has a stated commitment to provide an educational environment that respects, welcomes, encourages, and celebrates a diverse student body. Join us to learn about the challenges our underrepresented minority students face and how you can effectively teach and mentor them. With an eye to increasing our understandings to cultural difference, we hope to also talk about shared experiences diverse student populations face in mainstream institutions such as UM. This session will have a particular focus on the experiences of the hundreds of Native American students that we serve as well as on the Montana State constitutional mandate to educate all citizens about the history and cultures of American Indians, Indian Education for All.

Presenter: Kathryn Shanley, Professor and Chair, Native American Studies, and Special Assistant to the Provost for Native American and Indigenous Education.
