The Mobile Summer Teaching Institute is back!

Sign up to participate in our exceptional Mobile Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching (MOSI) to be held the week of August 3, 2020 for UM faculty and graduate instructors. The Summer Institute will expand and sharpen participants’ teaching skills through workshops facilitated by national teaching experts and UM MOSI fellows. This year's workshop is open to instructors in any disciplines that involve complex problem solving. It will incorporate distance teaching techniques and be taught online.

New Office of Organizational Learning and Development

A new Office of Organizational Learning and Development just launched to expand upon the work of the FDO! We will be providing learning opportunities to all UM employees through professional development sessions, leadership and management programming and new inquiry projects. The offerings of the Faculty Development Office will still be provided as well though a few may appear in new packages.

Engaged Teaching Practices Resource

The FDO is offering an online Engaged Teaching Practices course, which offers an introduction to research on how students learn, clear guidelines for making your courses accessible to all students, and practical strategies for engaging students throughout the semester. Self enroll now and complete it on your own timeline!

Mission

The University of Montana-Missoula Faculty Development Office was established in 2010 as a joint effort by the Office of the Provost and the University Faculty Association. The Faculty Development Office coordinates and develops opportunities for faculty to grow professionally and personally. The Office provides resources to foster teaching, research/creative activity, and service. It aims to sustain faculty professional goals, promote career satisfaction and advancement, and support the mission of the University of Montana. A steering committee composed largely of faculty members advises the Office.

Support for Faculty Members

The Faculty Development Office web site links to resources from across campus that support faculty (see headers).  Resources for chairs are also available on this site.
