This session will address how to approach scenarios commonly faced by department chairs and identify campus resources and personnel that are available to support you.

12:00-1:00 Claudine Cellier, Director of Academic Personnel & Assistant to the Provost, will discuss the faculty evaluation timeline, procedures, requirements, exemptions and appeals. She will answer any questions you may have about the evaluation process.
1:00-2:00 Deans Roberta Evans and Chris Comer will lead a conversation on writing the chairs’ narrative and ranking merits.

Building on Joseph Raelin’s concept of the “leaderful community,” this session examines practices that foster leadership at all levels of an organization. Innovation, idea generation and the ability for an organization to embrace change are among the attributes of a leaderful community. Join Matt Riley, UM’s Chief Information Officer, to discuss how we can all move UM in this direction. Co-hosted with HRS.
