Due to the overwhelming response to the campus-wide informational update regarding new key-issuance procedures, scheduling for training and software implementation have been somewhat slowed. Please be patient while we refine the process - we are working as rapidly towards that goal as is possible. Future updates will be sent out, keeping the campus community informed as developments occur.
The key deposit amount has increased as of July 1st, 2012, to coincide with the beginning of the new fiscal year. We will continue to check keys out using the key cards until further notice.
Thank you,

KEY ISSUE UPGRADES FOR 2012-2013 ACADEMIC YEAR
To improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability in the key issuance and key control processes, and with the recent implementation of a new software system designed for that purpose, key requests will now be processed online. On the form provided, we are asking that you provide the name(s) of the person(s) who will be authorized to request keys for your department. Lock Shop staff will visit each department for brief training and to update authorized users in new key-control procedures and audit requirements, as mandated by Internal Audit. Please have authorized user(s) contact Alex Fradkin to arrange an appointment. The new software is scheduled to go live July 1, 2012, so your immediate attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
As you know, all keys are the property of the University of Montana. To better encourage the return of issued keys and the prompt reporting of lost or stolen keys, and to protect the integrity of the university’s master key system, deposit amounts have been increased. In the event the key(s) are not returned, the deposit will be forfeit and applied towards the cost of rekeying.
Effective November 13, 2012 the new key deposit fees will be:
Change key: $ 13.00
Master Key: $50.00
Additionally, a $5.00 non-refundable materials/labor fee will be charged for each key issued.
To set up persons who will be authorized to issue keys please e-mail the following information:
