POLICE officers with Public Safety are law enforcement officers with the same powers of arrest, training and equipment as any in the state. UM officers are selected for their ability to exercise appropriate judgment and enforcement action in a university environment filled with young adults. Officers assist in the guidance of students as they live, learn and work in preparation for life after their academic experience. A 24/7 dispatch operation answers calls for assistance and directs appropriate responders.
