Commencement Information

The University of Montana Spring 2010 Ceremony Information

Saturday, May 15, 2010 on The Oval

 

9:20 a.m.         All guests should be seated

9:30 a.m.         Processional of faculty and graduates begins

10:00 a.m.       Central ceremony for all graduates will be held on The Oval (outside in front of Main Hall)

11:30 a.m.       Individual school ceremonies for Professional Schools*

1:30 p.m.         Individual school ceremonies for the College of Technology & majors within The College of Arts & Sciences**

All ceremonies will last approximately one hour.

Volunteer Information 

Note:  If you submitted your graduation papers to the graduations office after April 23, 2010 or you are graduating autumn 2010 and beyond your name will not appear in the 2010 Commencement Bulletin.  Only students who have graduated during the summer and autumn 2009 semesters or are degree candidates for the spring and summer 2010 semesters, and who submitted the proper paper work before April 23, 2010, will appear in the commencement bulletin.

Cap & gown information can be found by viewing the UM Bookstore website or the Jostens flyer.

*Professional Schools include: College of Education and Human Sciences, College of Forestry and Conservation, College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences, College of Visual and Performing Arts, School of Business, and School of Journalism.

** College of Arts & Sciences: Anthropology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Communication Studies, Computer Science, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, Geography, Geosciences, History, Liberal Studies, Linguistics, Mathematical Sciences, Modern & Classical Language, Native American Studies, Philosophy, Physics & Astronomy, Political Science, Psychology & Sociology.

Detailed information about the graduation ceremony is mailed out to graduating seniors by early April of each year.  Please make sure your mailing address is current.  You can view and change your address in CyberBear.

*  If you need to update your diploma mailing address (from the address indicated on your original graduation application) please call (406) 243-2421 or (406) 243-2422.  Updating your address on Cyberbear does not affect your diploma mailing address.

Graduation Application Deadlines
Don't forget that you must apply for graduation. Applications are available in the Registration Center.

Submitting the application one year in advance allows time for your major department and the Registrar's Office to check for any problems while there is still time to correct them.

Deadline Dates
School or department approved bachelor and associate of arts degree applications for graduation are due in the Registration Center by:

  • October 5, 2009 for Spring Semester 2010.

  • February 1, 2010 for Summer Semester 2010.

  • March 1, 2010 for Autumn Semester 2010.

A $30 application fee must be paid at Business Services in Griz Central of the Lommasson Center. Applications are due in departments from three to fourteen days in advance of this date. Check with the departments regarding departmental due dates.

COT Graduation Information

College of Technology students follow the same graduation guidelines as The University of Montana main campus, but uses a different graduation form.  The form needs to be submitted to the COT Registrar's Office.
