EDUCATION and ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

TITLE:
AmeriCorps State and National Grant Competitions

ITEM:
Notice seeking applications proposing to engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based or evidence-informed (e.g., based on proposed program's data or a similar program's data) interventions to strengthen communities. Six focus areas: Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families.

ACTION:
Notice of Intent are required and due December 11, 2013. Applications are due January 8, 2014. There is no specific match requirement for fixed amount grants but CNCS does not provide all the funds necessary to operate the program. Organizations must raise the additional revenue required to operate the program. A first-time successful applicant is required to match at 24 percent for the first three-year funding period.

HEALTH and MENTAL HEALTH

TITLE:
Development of Appropriate Pediatric Formulations and Drug Delivery Systems STTR (R41)

ITEM:
Notice seeking applications from small businesses that address different and complementary research needs for the development appropriate pediatric drug formulations in different age groups. It also encourages the development and testing of novel drug delivery systems in the pediatric population. The goal is not to duplicate or compete with the private sector but to complement and accelerate the development of appropriate pediatric drugs formulations and drug delivery systems.

ACTION:
Letters of intent are requested and due 30 days before application is submitted. Applications are due April 5, August 5, and December 5, annually. Collaboration is required for STTR funding and colleges and universities are eligible to partner.

TITLE:

ITEM:
Notice invites applications to address different and complementary research needs for the development of appropriate pediatric drug formulations in different age groups. The development and testing of novel drug delivery systems in the pediatric population is also encouraged.

ACTION:
Applications are due April 5, August 5, and December 5, annually. Program expires September 8, 2016. Total funding support (direct costs, indirect costs, fee) normally may not exceed $150,000 for Phase I awards. Only small business concerns are eligible to apply but there may be partnering opportunities for colleges and universities.

Ocean Sciences Research Initiation Grants

Research Initiation Grants provide start up funding for researchers who have been recently appointed to tenure track (or equivalent) positions, with the twin goals of enhancing the development of their research careers and broadening the participation of under-represented groups in ocean sciences.

ACTION:
Proposals are due January 13, 2014, January 12, 2015, and January 11, 2016. Approximately $600,000 is available to support six awards.
