Student Custodian

The Student Custodian positions provide custodial services to an assigned residence halls on weekends, UM holidays and Thanksgiving/Spring Break.  The student custodian shall be on call every other week for all the residence halls. This position works typically 28 per week, 16 hours during the weekend, and 9-12 hours of on-call per week, and hired for the academic year. Summer employment is available to those interested. Compensation: Student Custodians are paid a competitive hourly rate for actual hours worked on Saturday and Sunday, and paid a 4:1 ratio (one hour of pay for four on-call hours) for nights on call.

2017-2018 Student Custodian Application Process


Residence Life will hire two Student Custodians for the 2017-2018 academic year. All Student Custodian candidates must complete an online Student Custodian Application to be considered for the position. The Student Custodian Application will open on Friday, March 17, 2017 and will close on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Individual Interview

Once an application has been received it will be reviewed and qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule an individual interview.

Hiring Notification

All Student Custodian candidates will be notified of their hiring status by June 15, 2017.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2.25 GPA
  • Be a full-time student (12-18 credits)
  • Be in good conduct standing with the University
  • Available on weekends
