Volunteer Opportunities On and Off Campus
Retirees may wish to continue serving the UM by volunteering their time. Your institutional knowledge, expertise, and energy can continue to serve the university in meaningful ways. Some volunteer opportunities are for one-time or annual events and some are available on an ongoing basis. Check out these opportunities to volunteer!
On Campus
University Search Committees
Retirees can volunteer to participate on search committees for recruitments. In addition to or in lieu of informing your former department, you may contact the Recruitment Manager in Human Resource Services Recruitment at Personnel Resources Recruitment and provide your name, a current email address and what title(s) you held and/or which departments you worked on campus.
The Missoula International Friendship Program
The Missoula International Friendship Program (MIFP) is looking for volunteers to be buddies to international students. Complete an online application/questionnaire at www.mifp.org. The program provides a great way to help an international student receive a warm welcome to UM and get to know people on campus and in the community. Holiday Helpers Program
UM's Experimental Leaning and Career Success office coordinates the annual "Holiday Helpers" program during the Christmas holiday. This is an opportunity for campus faculty, staff, and retirees to give holiday and food items for local families through organizations like the YWCA and Soft Landing. University United Food Friday Event
UM's Experimental Learning and Career Success office partners with the President's Office and United Way of Missoula County to coordinate this annual fall semester event. Over 350 volunteers work together to package over 90,000 non-perishable meals for Missoula Food Bank's Empower Pack program. Off Campus
Missoula Aging Services (MAS)
Missoula Aging Services (MAS) is always looking for enthusiastic anc compassionate volunteers. Your time and talent can make a real difference in someone's life. MAS offers a wide selection of engaging ways to volunteer in the community. This includes volunteering directly with MAS as well as opportunities to work with other local organizations. Missoula Senior Center
Missoula Senior Center always welcomes volunteers who are greatly appreciated! The only qualification for volunteering is that you come with a willing attitude. Partners in Home Care Hospice Program
Partners in Home Care Hospice Program provides end of life ar to patients and their families. If you have a passion for caring for others, you should consider becoming a Hospice Volunteer in Missoula or Polson. As a Hospice Volunteer, you can choose to work with individuals and their families by giving the gifts of compassion and emotional support. You may also choose activities such as running errands, walking a pet, assisting with clerical functions, or involvement with the fundraising team.
