University of Montana Retirees' Association Legacy Scholarship

University of Montana Retirees’ Association Scholarship

Funding the Future: The UMRA Scholarship was established by the University of Montana Retirees’ Association for UM students. Academic excellence, campus involvement, and proven commitment to the betterment of communities and family, as well as economic need are considered in awarding the scholarship.

Selection Criteria:

  • Financial need as determined by UM Financial Aid Office
  • Graduate of a Montana high school
  • College GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Minimum of 24 earned college credits
  • Community and/or family service
  • Campus involvement

One tuition scholarship will be awarded annually to a UM student enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or a UM Missoula College student enrolled in a certificate or associate degree program.

Getting There

The generosity of our donors has allowed scholarships to be offered each year and funds over and above the cost of the scholarships were retained to begin the creation of an endowed scholarship fund. Funding for a single endowed scholarship is now available (approximately $25,000). A generous gift made in 2022 as a qualified charitable distribution will mature over the next few years. If augmented by additional donations, that gift will grow and allow us to offer our goal of two endowed scholarships (requiring approximately $40,000).

Anyone can make a donation; several retirees and friends of the University of Montana have made donations in honor of or in memory of former UM colleagues.

Gifts of Cash

Checks should be made payable to the University of Montana Foundation. The mailing address is PO Box 7159, Missoula, MT 59807. Please note on the check, or enclose a note, that the gift is for the UM Retirees' Association Scholarship, Fund 6RY. If the gift is in memory/honor of someone, that should also be noted on the check or enclosure.
