The University of Montana offers bystander intervention training opportunities to promote a safe learning environment for every student. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend one of these sessions.
Juniors are required to complete a bystander training session before registering for their senior year. Sophomores who attend a training this year will not need to repeat the training their junior year.
Step UP! is a is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention training program that educates students to be proactive in helping others. Students that attend the training will learn information about how to Step UP! when someone else is in need, offer support, and call for help. Students will gain valuable skill sets to help them help their communities. Student leaders from the UM Residence Life office have been trained on Step UP! material and will present the sessions. Step UP! trainings are offered by Residence Life througout the year. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend.
