Staff Senate Bylaws Revisions Proposed

The Staff Senate Bylaws Committee has proposed several revisions to the Staff Senate Bylaws.  The Staff Senate has approved these changes but will allow fourteen days for review and comment from staff, as required by the Bylaws.  Bylaws with suggested changes.  Please contact Bylaws Committee Chair Darlene Samson at darlene.samson@mso.umt.edu with any comments.

Elections for Staff Senate Completed!

Winners of the Staff Senate Scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year are Austin Herron (son of Kim Herron, Rural Institute), Alonda Paddock (daughter of Karl Paddock, Facilities Services), Jessica Hurd (daughter of Karen Hurd, Environmental Studies), Andrea Collins (daughter of Patricia DaSilva, Mansfield Library); Kara Dobie (daughter of Jeffrey Dobie, Office of Public Safety), Rachelle Ginn (daughter of Suzanne Ginn, Broadcast Media), and Kathryn Steffes (daughter of Robin Steffes, Curry Health Center).

Help Fund Scholarships for Children of Staff!

You can make a big difference and help your fellow staff members by contributing to the Staff Senate Scholarship Fund. Write a check to Staff Senate Scholarships and send it to Heather Hibbard in Student Support Services. Or, an easy way to contribute is by making small, regular contributions through payroll deduction. Even $5 per month would be a great donation! Your contributions are tax deductible! Dependent Tuition Waiver

Employees must be employed at least 3/4 time for five or more consecutive years before being eligible for a dependent tuition waiver benefit.  Employees who utilize the faculty and staff tuition waiver are not eligible for a dependent tuition waiver during the same academic term.  Only one dependent may utilize the dependent tuition waiver in an academic term.  A dependent includes the employee's spouse or adult dependent, as defined in the MUS Employee Benefits Plan, and financially dependent children as defined by the IRS who are unmarried and under age 25.  The tuition waiver benefit for dependents shall be for 50% of the residential tuition.  Dependents may not use the tuition waiver benefit to attend law school or obtain a graduate degree.  For additional details contact Human Resources.

Staff Tuition Waiver

To qualify for a Tuition Fee Waiver of in-state tuition for regular courses of study at The University of Montana, eligible staff members must have completed their probationary period, must be on permanent employee status, must be working at least .75 full-time employment, and must have obtained approval from their supervisor and administration.  Here is a link to the application and policies:  http://www2.umt.edu/hrs/Benefits/Tuition%20Waiver.aspx
