World Class Concerts

The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Keith Urban, Sting, Wilco, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, James Taylor, Widespread Panic, Alison Kraus, Sawyer Brown.

Today’s most popular musicians seem to agree: UM is a must-make tour date.

In addition to the vibrant music scene at Missoula’s independent venues, the University hosts dozens of big-name concerts every year.

The Rolling Stones played a sold-out crowd in Washington-Grizzly Stadium in 2006. Elton John graced the stage of the Adams Center twice in less than a year. Pearl Jam packed the Adams Center once, then returned for a repeat performance in the stadium. The Grateful Dead played the Fieldhouse in ’74. More recent guests include String Cheese Incident, Travis Tritt, REM, Dierks Bentley, Emerson Drive, Big and Rich, Godsmack, Harry Connick Jr., Jurassic 5, Kenny Rogers, Trace Adkins, 3-11, Trick Daddy, Nelly, Steve Earle, Weezer and more.

With a variety of venues on campus, UM is well-suited to accommodate shows of any size - from the intimate acoustic show in the University Theatre to the weather-proof Adams Center and, for the most successful touring acts on the scene, the 22,000-capacity Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Students with an interest in concert promoting can get behind-the-scenes experience with UM Productions, the student-run organization that produces many of the concerts on campus. And UM’s School of Business Administration offers Entertainment Management Program, a cutting-edge course of study that brings in successful producers, agents, promoters from the business to share their valuable advice with students.
