The Master of Arts (MA) degree in theatre is designed for students seeking preparation for a Ph.D. or MFA degree, as well as for experienced and certified secondary-school- or community-college-level teachers who wish to complete intensive academic coursework in theatre.
A basic core of theatre and critical-analysis courses is required, plus the designation of one of two possible areas of emphasis as selected in consultation with the student's advisor: Performance Theory and Criticism, or Teaching.
Students may be accepted every year into the two-year program; there is no set class size. There are currently two students in each of the two years of the program. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2014-2016 rotation: visit http://life.umt.edu/grad/Programs/Theatre.php for details.
