Welcome to Acting and Directing at The University of Montana’s School of Theatre & Dance, home of Montana Repertory Theatre! The Acting/Directing Division is responsible for teaching and advising students pursuing BA and MA degrees in generalized theatre studies and theatre education (Educaction Endorsement Preparation). The division also offers specialized BFA and MFA degrees in acting, and an MFA in directing. For students outside the School of Theatre and Dance, programs provide opportunities for minors and a wide range of general education courses. Our degree programs offer students the opportunity to explore dedicated sequences of acting, voice, movement, directing, theory, pedagogy, and criticism.
Theatre is an expressive art form in which the actor, director, and those who study and interpret the art are instruments of that expression. As you explore the site you will get to know our distinguished faculty, meet some of our students, and discover the unique aspects of the performance and production curriculum here at the University of Montana.
Thanks for visiting our website. If after your visit you have any questions, feel free to email us at theatredance@umontana.edu.
We’ll see you at the theatre!
