Dance - Community - MoDE

Montana's Model Dance Education Program (MoDE) is a new dance program (founded in 2008) tailored around an artist-residency model. Dance professionals have been hired to work collaboratively with traditional academic classroom teachers, integrating dance into the learning of public-school children. Students learn dance as a discrete subject matter and use kinesthetic learning (learning through the body) to learn about language, mathematics, science, health, social studies, etc. This project builds upon the success of the Making Connections: Dance and Learning Festival held in February 2008 in the Missoula County Public Schools.
