Tanya Dickinson

Tanya Dickinson began her Upward Bound experience as a shy 10th grader in 1999. Never believing that a college education was in her future, she bought into Upward Bound's message that being poor was not an excuse for attending college. She began to excel academically and graduated from Hellgate High School in 2002.
Tanya subsequently enrolled in the University of Montana, spent many summers working for Upward Bound in the residential component, then graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Secondary Education. Upon her graduation, she began instructing one of Upward Bound's summer English sections.
In spring 2008, Tanya was admitted to the University of Washington (Seattle) graduate studies program. She will be pursuing a Master of Arts for Teachers (MAT) degree in English while spending her summers instructing Upward Bound English courses.
